Rudy Farias surfaced in Houston, Texas last week after being on the Missing Persons list for over 8 years. Turns out, he was only really missing for a single day. But what happened in all that time as he's aged from 17 to 25-years-old? According to the police, he's been an adult capable of making his own decisions this entire time. However, rumors have been swirling suggesting his experience has been a dark one, full of sex, forced labor and various other forms of abuse.
Rudy was found unresponsive on the steps of a church over 8 years after his mother told police he never returned home from walking the dogs. Several times over those eight years police visited the house and were allegedly presented false identification from Rudy's mother. His mom said at the time that Rudy was covered with cuts and bruises but she was so thankful he was home.
This is when things get weird.
Enter: Quanell X.
This man, Quanell X, was at a press conference this week detailing what he said happened between Rudy Farias and his mother over these last eight years. What we do know is that Rudy was not missing, he was at the house and going by the name 'Dolph' the entire time. What we don't know is if Quannel X, a local activist (and leader of the New Black Panthers) who isn't afraid to inject himself into a news story, is telling the truth.
Quanell X claims:
"[He] was tired of living like a slave. She would take him to work with her and he would do the required work she was supposed to do. And a lot of responsibilities of her job was on him."
"She would make him sleep in the bed with her. And he said that she made him play 'Daddy.' He said that he didn't like getting in the bed with her but she told him he had to be her husband."
"[He] said she was the one providing drugs to him for years. Hallucination drugs, mushrooms, etc."
"When he would shower, she would come and pull the shower curtain back and stare at him and then she would make him bathe her."
"I honestly believe, based on what he said to us, she was drugging the hell out of this kid and she convinced him that he was in trouble for initially running away and that law enforcement want to arrest him and put him in jail."
Those are some wild allegations. What makes them even more alarming is the fact that Rudy Farias was released back to his mother's house. I mean, he's a 25-year-old man but what in the hell is going on here? We know he wasn't missing. We know his mother was lying about his identity. We have all the wild allegations above but we still hadn't heard from the police until today at a press conference.
Police press conference moments:
Rudy came in contact with Houston police on several occasions but provided fake identification so nothing would happen.
Both his mother and Rudy himself gave fake names while interacting with various patrol officers.
Police know that Rudy came home the day after he went missing and his mother continued to lie to the police about his whereabouts.
Based on Rudy's interview there were no reports of sexual abuse reported.
The police did not, however, say that Quanell X was lying. Also, they were very evasive about how they answered questions about a sexual relationship with his mother.
My questions:
Why did the police wait a week before interviewing the mother?
The police have said 'being missing is not a crime' but it seems like Rudy's mother committed several obvious crimes like providing false identification to a law enforcement officer, perhaps providing drugs to a minor and various other potential abuse charges. Are they going to file any charges against Rudy's mother?
Why were the statements from Quanell X and the Houston Police so different?
"Rudy is safe. He is with his mother. He is a 25-year-old man."- Houston Police.
