I've always been pretty easygoing go with the flow if somebody wants to hug. Generally, I'm not opposed to it. But I always like the option A friend of mine introduced the concept of forced Huggers, you know, the ones that don't give an option and they just go in for the hug no matter what I'm a hugger. Well, I noticed an aunt and a family gathering was engaging in force hugging and I just decided I don't want to be hugged. So I just kindly stepped back and over to the side and put my hands down and uh, just they body language that did not engage in hugging and she did not try to hug me. It was not rude. It wasn't awful and it seemed like the awareness of just knowing that that was going on got me out of a hug that I really didn't want to give.
