Hey guys. Happy hurricane day and uh, hurricane weekends. Um, just wanted to chime in regarding the vehicular homicide case that we've been talking about this week. Um, I think I have a more nuanced take on this, which is he does not deserve life, but he does deserve some punishment. I don't have a problem with speeding. I am happy to do triple digit speeds if the road conditions and the vehicle climb in allow for it. The sunny day, it's dry. Go for it. No traffic, even better. This person was driving at 100 miles an hour in the dark on a road. That as far as I'm aware, does not have lights. The difference in distance traveled between 100 Mi an hour and 70 miles an hour is like 2,00 feet per minute. So, how do you have seen the vehicle at the same time? At 100 versus 70, he would have had had an extra 2,000 feet at minimum. To steer away to avoid the accident. That again, is in a minute. Sit there and think for a minute. I'm not going to actually sit here in silence for a minute, but just think about how long that time is for you to have avoided something. It's kind of enough to have it not occurred at all, to be honest. Um, I think it's very unfortunate that people died in this vehicle, but at the end of the day, he was the DD. He was responsible for them, and he chose to drive. Again, in my opinion. Based on the way I drive. He was he was being Reckless. If it was the middle of the day it was sunny out. It wasn't raining. There wasn't cars around. Go for it. Go as fast as that. Car will go 155 probably. Okay, maybe that's a little fast but my point is the speed isn't really the problem. If the conditions allow for it, which they didn't. Him being the DD. I I didn't know I I just feel like he is a little more responsible than we're letting on. And maybe other people agree. I don't know. It seems like the vibe was let him walk. Let him walk out just cuz he was going a little fast, big deal. I don't really share that perspective as someone who enjoys driving, very fast. Um, I especially wouldn't be doing that with passengers in the car. Pop, pop, pop.
