Shoot to Wound, Not Kill

I might be able to help luv. There are a few reasons folks are taught shoot to kill/put down and not to wound. If you're using a weapon (gun) it's a last resort type of thing. You're goal isn't to kill (usually a byproduct tho) but to stop the person from doing whatever they're doing, which is a threat to life or great bodily harm. Also the center of the chest area, is a big target, it's easier to aim there (especially when your adrenaline is pumping, chaos is happening etc) than to aim at arm or leg when someone is moving towards you. (If you miss, you could injure someone behind the attacker for example plus the attacker is still attacking). If you shoot a leg/arm, the attacker can still attack. Also, shooting a leg/arm can be fatal, their are major arteries, bullets ricochet internally off bones etc etc. just a few things to think about, hope that helps some 😊
